StudioCloud: Business Management Software

If you own a small business, you know how hard it is to manage all the aspects on your own. Invoicing? Taxes? Client details? Scheduling? I was close to making my husband come up with some kind of custom software to help me with it all.

Then my fabulous friend, photographer Caitlin Domanico, told me about StudioCloud. At first I wrote it off for a couple months as a photographer based software. But one day I really couldn't take the lack of organization I was dealing with and took a second look.

StudioCloud is being advertised as business management software for photographers, videographers, designers, physical and massage therapists and more. And best of all, the basic functionality is FREE! I had nothing to lose and jumped right in.

I admit I didn't quite understand all the options of the software. Ok, I still don't. But beyond what I really need, I just haven't had the time to look into it. The parts I am using though are outstanding. The client section let's you input a number for that person or business, their business name (if applicable), the client or contact's name, address, phone number, emails, notes, referral information and more. There's also a section to put prospective clients before they've made the commitment to you.

My favorite part of this program is the invoicing section. Invoices used to take me 30 minutes or more by editing a PDF and now they take a few minutes. You can make a products price list or services price list that you can search and then drag and drop into new invoices. You can also determine what is taxed and what isn't, edit the sales tax setting for your specific state and so much more. Once sales start finalizing, you can view and print reports on your income.

My second favorite part of StudioCloud? The sales tax table that shows me what I owe the state from my sales. I can sort it any way I want but the easiest is by quarter. This also saves me a ton of time and I don't have to sit for hours on end grabbing the numbers from my invoices and adding everything up for when I file. So very easy.

There are of course add-ons for the service with the most popular one being CloudBoost. This is meant for one user to be able to sync their data in the cloud and access it from any other computer or internet enabled device. If you have an Android, iPhone, Blackberry, or mobile internet browser, you can access the data there too! This add-on is $30/month.

I can't do the whole thing justice just by talking about it so I encourage any small business owners who don't yet have a wonderfully convenient system in place for managing their business, to give StudioCloud a try. With the cost being free, it's a no brainer.

So much Holiday Greatness...we feel light headed!

Last Sunday we had the opportunity to attend a Holiday Open House event at one of our favorite shopping destinations....Two Hip Chicks, in Norman Oklahoma. Usually these ladies are not open on Sunday, but this Open House called for something special. Located at 932 N. Flood Norman, OK (make sure to check for extended Holiday hours) right in the heart of Sooner Nation and man was this place hopping! There were plenty of snacks and refreshments to keep everyone in great spirits for the kick off of the Holiday shopping season. The large assortment of handmade unique items was mind-boggling, if you are easily distracted by shiny/pretty/shimmery/fabulous objects...you are going to find it hard to remain focused here. We're not sure how these ladies get so much done from one season to the next, but we are starting to suspect elves may play a part!

After taking our time and enjoying the atmosphere and conversation...we snapped some pics and complied a few of our favorite finds. By the way if you happen to see old St. Nick between now and "D-Day" could you tell him we would be delighted to receive ANY of these..or ALL if he finds us on the 'nice' list this year. Hey! We can dream....

Simply adorable, over sized keys in festive Holiday colors...they shimmer, they glitter...they are fantastic! $25ea

Decorative reindeer...would look great
on a shelf, mantle or around the tree.
$32ea

Santa's bag of goodies never looked so festive and would look spectacular
next to the front door or entry way. $140ea

This over sized easel would be the perfect gift
for the artist in the house or to showcase
a large picture or painting.
$40ea

No Holiday display area would be complete
without a miniature red-shimmer reindeer...love love love!
$10

To keep up with all the happenings, new items or to see more of the large assortment of unique and hard to find Holiday items from Two Hip Chicks, make sure to visit their Facebook Page, we hear discount specials are run regularly for their Facebook followers. AND remember to Shop Local this Holiday Season and show the small businesses in your neighborhood the support they deserve. It's good for the economy and it's good for the community!

Special Thanks to our talented photog Erin Cramer for all her help!

Put A Cork In It...Bricktown Winery

As some may now, we just returned from our "Oklahoma Tour 2011" a few weeks back and even though we found the earthquakes a bit nerve rattling...the rest of our time was fantastic!

One of the great places that we came upon was Put a Cork In It, Bricktown Winery located in historic Bricktown, deep in the heart of Oklahoma City conveniently located between Bricktown Marketplace and Red Dirt Emporium, at the canal level.  By the way...If you haven't had the pleasure of shopping these great stores in Bricktown, you should absolutely put it on your bucket list for the next time you're in the Oklahoma City area. You will find a huge selection of unique items from clothing to home decor, almost all created by local retailers and artist. You'll kick yourself if you miss it!

How great is this wall?
So while we were doing a little shopping therapy we had the pleasure of sitting down with Andrea Griggs, the co-owner of Put A Cork In It, of course she had us at "would like a sample tasting?"...and little did she know we are suckers for good wine and great conversation, and Andrea did not disappoint. With a nice selection of reds, whites and sweet wines there is something here for every wine lover. Along with the fact that all of the wines are produced and bottled right in Bricktown and that they have commissioned local artist Allen Shepard to create each label. Andrea also gave us the back story to several of the wines, which is the inspiration for each of the labels.

I choose to do a sampling of the Stamped Red Zinfandel, Twister Pinot Gris, Delightfully Delicious (a nice peachy Chardonnay) and the Redbud (a pomegranate red zin, yep always looking to increase my antioxidants!). As I sampled each one, Andrea gave me the background story for each of the wines and what inspired her to create such a delicious assortment. The background story for each is worth hearing and will move you to understand why this winery is deeply connected to Oklahoma and a true passion of the owners.

Now I am far from what one would describe as a "wine snob"..actually my favorite wine is usually the type served in a glass. So I'll save such words as "full bodied" "oakiness" or "buttery" for those palettes a bit more refined than mine. But I will say, each of the wines sampled (and eventually purchased) were delicious, flavorful and quite an unexpected pleasure.

Another great surprise was the large wine tasting room that is spacious enough to house groups and events up to 45 people comfortably. This is where you will find such great happenings as Wine and Palette on Tuesday evenings (full schedule here) that mixes great conversation, an art project that you can finish in the course of the event..and of course delicious wine! It's easy to see that there is a lot more going on at Put A Cork In It, than just great vino. So the next time you zip down Interstate 40 through beautiful Oklahoma City, OK...take a little break, stop off in Bricktown, and visit a few of these locally owned businesses and show them your support. You won't be sorry!

To follow the daily happenings and events, make sure to "like" their Facebook pages as well:  Bricktown Marketplace, Red Dirt Emporium and Put A Cork In It, Bricktown Winery,
